No. Refrain works entirely offline. Your audio, loop markers, and settings stay on your device and are never uploaded. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Refrain supports common formats including MP3, WAV, AAC, and M4A. Import a track with the in-app import button, or share one into Refrain from another app. Either way it is copied into the app's private library.
Open a track in the player, set marker A at your loop start and marker B at your loop end, then enable looping. You can audition the section with snippet preview before you commit, and save the result as a named segment to recall it in a tap later.
Yes to both. The skip buttons can be set to jump forward or back by 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds, and the count-in timer gives you a short lead-in before playback starts so you're ready to come in. You can also drop bookmarks on the spots you want to find again.
Create folders and file your tracks into them. Folders you pin stay at the top in the order you arrange them; the rest sort by most recently opened, so what you're currently working on stays close to hand.
Yes. Refrain uses proper background audio, so a loop keeps running with the screen off or while you use another app, with controls on your lock screen and in your notification shade.
Not currently. Refrain loops at the track's original speed. If slowing a passage down would help you, tell us; it's one of the requests we track.
All imported audio and saved markers live in Refrain's private storage on your device. You can delete individual tracks within the app, or remove everything by uninstalling the app. Because nothing is stored on our servers, we recommend keeping your own backup of any important original audio.
No. Refrain does not request or use microphone or camera access.
We'd love to hear it, by email at [email protected], or as an issue on GitHub.
